Only a few years ago I learned that the money tree can bloom. Once I went to visit a neighbor and saw this blooming beauty on her windowsill. At first I didn’t even believe it, I thought that she had planted some kind of bindweed next to the fat woman. However, upon closer inspection I realized that it was the money tree itself that was blooming.
I learned all the secrets of care from her and applied them to my fat woman at home. The result was only after a couple of years. But now my money tree blooms periodically. Now I want to share these rules of care with you, there are only 5 of them.
Despite their universality, these rules worked on the fat woman. But there is one condition – the plant must be at least 5-6 years old, you will not see flowers before that.
When mid-autumn comes, I move the pot with the money tree away from the window. It needs rest to gain strength, which will help form buds. Therefore, the natural light that gets deep into the room is quite enough for the plant.
I reduce watering. The soil should be a little dry, so I water it once every three weeks, sometimes even less often. However, if there are heating devices nearby, you need to be more careful not to overdry the soil. I water the money tree and all other indoor plants only with settled water at room temperature, so I always have a supply of bottles in the kitchen.
During the autumn-winter period, I find the coolest place in the house and move the plant there. For this purpose, I use an insulated balcony, where the temperature is usually from 13 to 15 ° C at this time. If you do not have such a place, then find a corner where there are no heating devices within the nearest 40-70 cm.
I always feed it. If the plant sits in the same soil for a long time, the amount of nutrients in it decreases. Once a month, I feed the fat woman with a solution based on succinic acid. You can buy it at any drugstore. One tablet is diluted in one liter of water. This solution activates natural resources, strengthens the immune system and stimulates the formation of buds.
If your money tree is ready to bloom, you need to spray the crown with a solution based on boric acid (one gram diluted in one liter of water). This will prolong the flowering period.
I replant the money tree only when necessary. Any plant must first adapt, so replanting reduces the chance of flowering. I replant the fat woman only twice. Each time I took a pot 2 cm larger than the previous one. If you take too large a container, the money tree will first build up its root system.
If you manage to get the tree to bloom, be sure to remove the drooping buds so that the flowering process lasts longer.
